My favorite hobby

For those that know me, I love love love decorating! It's so bad that I'd rather spend my money on cute things for my house instead of making myself look cute. So although I look like I just crawled out from under a rock, my house is looking fairly decent! We've been here 3 years and there's still alot I'd like to do, but most of the rooms are almost done. I'm definitely open to suggestions because I don't have a creative mind- I always have to look at pictures of other people's homes to get ideas for my own!
The 2 things that would make this kitchen perfect are window treatments and stainless steel appliances. I've refused to do blinds in here because we have them in the rest of our house- I'm thinking roman shades?

Our monstrosity of an entertainment center. I do love white, but that's alot of white all in one place.

Here's the living room (when you first walk in the front door). It's 99% finished, I'd just like a few more accessories.

View from the living room

Poor Clay- his room needs the most help. I have big plans for it, I just need the money to follow through. :)

The girls' room

And the master bedroom- this is a work in progress. I'll post pictures of the finished room, but it could be a while. :)

I LOVE to decorate too! But I need something to decorate! When I finally have a place of my own, will you come over and help me!?

Maren, your house is so cute! Looks like all that time going on the Pottery Barn and Crate & Barrel websites at work has paid off.

I don't believe that is your house. I think you just copied and pasted pictures from online magazines. Yes, I know I have been in your house, several times, and actually spent some significant time there, and don't get me wrong, your house is very cute and beautiful, but those pictures are AMAZING! You really could sell them to a magazine.

Yeah, I agree with Kelli! I'll be you agent if you want.

I am also SO impressed because you have 3 young ones, and yet you can pull off glass vases and white furniture. You = Domestic Mother of the year.

I think my favorite thing to do on blogs is check out the "background" of the pictures to see houses. So I love this post. Your house is so pretty and I am also wondering (like Alisse) how you have such nice stuff with 3 kids? Keep posting pictures as you do more!

Ok, I too thought I was looking at pictures from a magazine that you cut and pasted of ideas you liked...and then I read the descriptions and realized it is your house!!!! AMAZING! Ummm...I live around the corner, any time you want to decorate something else! :o)

Luckily, these pictures don't show too much because trust me, there are grubby fingerprints everywhere and coloring on the walls. But most everything I care about is out of kids' reach, so the house is still kid-friendly! I'm with Shalae- I love catching a glimpse of other people's homes! So now everyone that made a comment needs to post pictures of their place! (Except Alisse because you already did, and Hillary- but as soon as you get a house, I better see some pictures!):)

Wow Maren - I love your house. I love that you like white too. It's so refreshing! You have done an awesome job. The great thing about works in progress, is that you always have something to work on! :) I'm so glad you posted pictures!

This is a wonderful talent you have and you should feel so good about it. I think your home is just lovely and I only hope that I can have a home that nice someday too. I really like your style. It's unique and fun.

Dear Maren,

Can I move in? Thanks, we'll go to lunch and have a dandy time.

No but for reals, your house is the epitome of every mom (or not mom in my case) in Mesa's dreams! I'm so jealous that you are so good at totally tying everything together without being too matchy-matchy, which is a serious disease that I have.

And I want to steal your pink chairs.

Love, Melissa

Yeah right you don't have a creative mind! If you didn't your house wouldn't look like that. I LOVE how you've decorated.

Your house looks great! And your family is so cute! I decided after my mission that I would like to try something different and moved up to Utah to work for Wells Fargo Bank in the COnstruction loan dept. And 1 year later I met my husband to be!
