Because while I was adding a new post, Clara learned how to take off the safety gate that's usually up to keep the kids from going into the guest room (which right now is the catch-all) and they made an even bigger mess of it.
Of course when I went to see what they were doing, Clara and Clay were nowhere to be found, but I heard a squeaky voice from the closet saying "Let me out!" in between sobs.
I opened the door to find Janie with black permanent marker all over herself and the closet door. Luckily it's on the inside where nobody can see it. Maybe I should wait until the kids are sleeping before I get on the computer.

Ohhhhhhhh boy...I wouldn't want to be around when you found the culprits of that mess. Poor Janie locked in the closet!
oh! Dear Maren I know how you feel.
Shelby is an expert in finding permanent markers and painting everything she thinks needs color.
Yes...this senario sounds way too familiar!
The joys of motherhood!:-) Always a mess to clean up for sure. My 14 year old still likes to write on herself! Will it ever end????? Hang in there
Oh my! I can't wait until Jonah is that age. How's the garden coming?
HILARIOUS! I know...blogging w/ children awake is a bad combo. I've tried a couple of your recipes from your cooking blog and they're all winners in our family's book! Thanks for sharing!
Oh kids they can't be trusted!! Good thing we love them anyway!
You are brave to post what the rest of us try to hide! Some days I wonder how I get anything done!
I am so glad to see you post that. I'm sure you just made a lot of moms feel so much better that we aren't the only ones. This should be what blogging is all about.
