I don't have any good excuses as to why I've neglected this blog, but I'm vowing to be better. I may not update every day or even every week, but I'll do what I can and I'm okay with that. This is the best way to keep a journal and document life events! And speaking of life events, we finally had some family pictures taken! It's been 3 years since we had them done last and my friend Amanda was kind enough to fit us into her busy schedule. She is extremely talented and I love the way they turned out! Here are some faves:

Kelli makes the best music mixes...a strong competitor to DJ Jazzy Jeff. Ps it's been a while since I've seen any new ones, eh? Some of my friends ask me why I decided to go to BYU instead of ASU. The truth is, I moved to Utah to be closer to Kelli's kitchen. Joking aside, I do love when she invites me to dinner and sends me home with an unlawful amount of food. It symbolizes the way she lives her life. She shares her time, talents, and enjoyment of life with everyone. When we were kids, I admired her good taste in Legos, GIJoe's, and cartoons. More recently, she is always willing to share with me her nifty findings in food, clothes and music. But even though we have much in common, she is still so accepting of everyone that is different. One of Kelli’s best characteristics is her thoughtful giving. Many times in my life I have been the recipient of awesome birthday/Christmas gifts like G.I. Joes, championship wrestling belts, nose flutes, and CDs with hand-picked songs from Kelli. It’s like she knows what I want for Christmas even when I don’t really know what I want. Each custom made CD is the same way- she knows the kind of music I like without me even knowing what kind of music I like. My ipod is filled with hundreds of songs on a playlist that Kelli made especially for me (this has helped me through many hours of homework and yard work). Each member of the family receives the same kinds of thoughtful gifts, and they are so meaningful because of the thought and care that Kelli puts into them. I mean, as much as I love my championship wrestling belt, it wouldn’t mean nearly as much to me if I had bought it for myself.

Gift giving is a good example of her selflessness, but it’s not the only way that Kelli shows charity for everyone. I think her generosity and thoughtfulness is constant. Any time she comes home for a visit, she takes the lead in doing yard work, house work, cooking, etc. She has become famous for baking unparalleled rolls and has made literally thousands of them without a complaint. Any time I go up to Utah for a visit, she seems to drop everything to drive me wherever and take me and J.D. to expensive restaurants and insist on paying for us, or cook another one of her supreme meals for us. Of course I would still love Kelli even if she didn’t buy me cool gifts or make me rolls or do my share of yard work or pay for my meals. My point is that a vast majority of her time is spent on serving others and making other people happy. This is something she has mastered, and I want to be more like her. Happy birthday, Kelli! Kelli is seriously one of my best friends! I love how much she cares for EVERYONE, as seen by all of these posts she has done for each and every one of us--in the spare time that she doesn't have much of! I love when she comes home to visit--She helps out with the cleaning and makes my life easier! :) Kelli always gives the greatest gifts EVER! She listens to small conversations all throughout the year and then surprises everyone by remembering the details, and giving a present that has to do with it. Kelli makes the greatest food EVER and likes to share that talent, which is fine by me! She makes the BEST rolls you have ever tasted! Kelli has always been such an example to me. She was my sister that was at home the longest, and I remember looking at her and thinking she was SO cool! I wanted to be JUST like her, and I have become more and more like her as the years have gone by, much to my advantage! She takes an interest in everyone, regardless of how "cool" they are to others. She spends her time serving others, and making sure that everyone has not only what they need, but a little extra too. You could start your own "EVERYTHING" business- chef, painter, landscaper, nanny, coach, tutor, DJ, just to name a few. I love getting music and book recommendations from you because you have great taste. Your rolls and mashed potatoes are heavenly and it's probably best you don't live here or I might gain 500 pounds from eating them all day every day. One of my favorite trips was when Candice and I came to visit; definitely time to do it again! I love that you aren't ashamed to be dandy with us, even when yelling "crapbag!" out the car window to passersby. I remember when I was about eight years old, Kelli (then about five or six) and I were roller-skating inside the pool area. Don’t ask me why. This was during the late 80s when roller skates were made with leather uppers and solid steel frames. While racing around the pool Skateland style, Kelli and I noticed a small raft floating toward the edge of the pool at a snail’s pace. Kelli and I decided we needed to get a hold of that raft. I knelt down on the edge of the deck and reached out over the water. I’ll never forget Kelli’s inspiring cheers: Mason! Mason! Mason! I knew I couldn’t let her down, so I reached as far as I could. But the raft was just out of reach. I plunged face first into the water. The skates were like bags of cement pulling me to the bottom of the pool. I remember looking up at Kelli through several feet of water. How could I have let her down? She was my biggest fan, my sidekick. Thankfully, Kelli called for help and Dad came quickly to the rescue.

To this day, Kelli continues to encourage and uplift others (although she has stopped encouraging roller skaters near bodies of water). I feel that just as Kelli looked up to me when we were kids, I look up to her today for her good example and righteousness. She is one of the most thoughtful, kind individuals I know. Thank you Kelli for being a great sister and friend. Happy Birthday!

Kelli is one of my favorite people. There are many things I love about her. She is one of the most thoughtful people I know. Kelli is always listening, so if you mention that you need an immersion blender, there is a good chance you will find one in your mailbox a week or two later. Or if she goes out of her way to come visit you in another state, she will probably send you some flowers afterward.

Kelli is often referred to as the “Favorite Aunt.” It is probably because she remembers every birthday, spends quality time, and makes each person feel special.

When we lived in Florida, we loved when Kelli came to visit. It was nice to have her to ourselves for a few days. Some of my favorite activities with Kelli include laying out at her pool in Provo, taking a road trip to San Francisco, relaxing at the beach on the east coast and the west, playing basketball at the church in Jacksonville, going to Disney World, traveling to Savannah, and baking/eating Kelli’s Famous Buns and Cinnamon Rolls.

Kelli is smart, accomplished, and witty. There is never a dull moment when she is around. I am so grateful that Kelli is my sis-in-law. She’s a good one! Happy Birthday, Kel!!! Love, Amanda

Back in Business!

It sure has been a nice break, but I'm finally getting back into the swing of things. First up, my prison chairs! Remember those?

If not, don't feel bad, I barely remembered them myself. I think it only took about 5 1/2 months to get them back! Here's how they look now:

It's not a drastic change, but they needed to be redone and I think the nail head trim adds the perfect touch.

They did an outstanding job on the details:

I was a little nervous about the dropcloth being too rough, but I pre-washed them and I'm pretty sure the prison steams the fabric beforehand, so they are much softer than I was anticipating. If I saw these in a store, I wouldn't have a clue that it was painter's cloth!

Here are my thoughts overall:

- The prison is very professional
-The work is impeccable
- The cost is unbeatable ($200 per chair)

- If you don't need your furniture right away and can handle waiting a few months, it's worth it, but I hesitate to take my sofa there for recovering because it's a big piece and I don't know if I can live without it for that long!

I'm still undecided about the shell back chair, but only because the style might be a bit too Victorian for me. I'll live with it for a while before I make a decision, but I did find this great chair at an estate sale yesterday that could become its replacement:

It's Beginning To Look Alot Like Christmas

I'm definitely feeling the Christmas spirit earlier this year than last. The tree is up, decorations placed, lights hung outside, and gifts are wrapped (well, almost). I wanted to have everything done by December 1 so I could relax a little and enjoy the month a bit more. I'm sure there will still be plenty to do, but right now I'm feeling good! Here's a glimpse of our Christmas house so far, and yes, I'm showing you the living room before it's completion, but what the heck-

Oh, and speaking of Christmas, I cut down a lot on my Christmas decor, so check the sale- there may be something calling your name!

Here We Go Again...

I've been in a cleaning, organizing mood lately (well, I always am, but even more now). I guess with all the business and stress that comes with the holidays I want my home to be calm, peaceful, and under control. I realize I haven't even gotten to showing you the updated kids rooms, and my living room isn't complete yet, but Derek decided to give up his office and let me do what I want in there. I don't want him to change his mind, so I'm jumping right in! His office that is now this:

My things will be moved into the former office, and it will still be an office, but we're going to make it our guest room as well since the girls took over what used to be the guest room. I think everything will flow so much better and with Derek's new office being in the back of the house instead of right by the front door, he can spread out and I won't have to nag him about keeping the clutter to a minimum. And what I have in mind for the new office/guest room fits the style of the rest of the house better. I'm thinking something along these lines:

Definitely girly, but with a little industrial flair. I'll keep you posted!

I hadn't planned to go to any sales this week, but an estate sale in Phoenix popped up and I knew it would be too good to pass up! It was reminiscent of the sale from a few weeks ago, only tons more stuff! Even with the hundred or more people there loading their arms with stuff, it didn't make a dent in emptying the house. I may just have to go back for half off day. :)

Terrariums

I have quite the collection of glass bottles and jars, but I have a hard time figuring out how to use them. These terrariums might just be the answer! I wouldn't have considered it with my black thumb, but supposedly they are very low maintenance and even the blackest of thumbs can keep them alive. I'll keep you posted. For the how-to, go here.

This weeks' finds are from 2 church rummage sales, one of them being Velda Rose which happens twice a year and I've never left empty-handed! It was a good week for old books because besides this pile I have more that I've already ripped the covers off of and tied together. I bought the pair of suitcases with the intention of re-selling, but I may have to rethink it after seeing some very creative ways to put them to use. I'll show you Monday!

Before and After: Kitchen

I decided it's high time I post about at least one of the rooms I've redone. Because I ended up redoing multiple rooms at once, there are still a lot of little things that need to be finished, but I can't say when they'll be 100% done, so I'll show you now. First up is the kitchen. Keep in mind there's some backsplash missing (I'd eventually like to do subway tiles and get stainless steel appliances).

Before:

I loved the green while it was up, but I thought going with a color similar to the cabinets would open the space up and I was right!

After:

The color I went with is Behr- Creamy White. I didn't want it too stark or hospital feeling, and this was a great choice. I don't miss the green a bit! I tend to think that every wall or empty space needs to be filled, but I'm really loving the clean, uncluttered look. It's bright, open and airy- just what I wanted!

The other change is the addition of the "island". I've always wanted an island in here, but didn't think it was a possibility because the kitchen is small as it is. But I was flipping through some Costco coupons and saw this stainless steel work table for a great price and the dimensions were perfect! I thought it would take some getting used to and that I'd be running into it all the time, but it hasn't been a problem at all. I love the little bit of extra counter space it gives, and the shelf underneath is perfect for storing aprons, tablecloths, and dishtowels.

Would you believe all of this is from one estate sale? We drove quite a ways to get there, but it was SO worth the trip. It was a teeny tiny house filled to the brim- hoarding was definitely their specialty! These are the beginnings of what will be our biggest sale yet! A few friends and I have decided to collaborate and we'll be holding a HUGE vintage sale in my front yard on Friday, November 12 & Saturday, November 13- mark your calendars! Turquoise

I'm always drawn to the color turquoise, and yet I have it nowhere in my house. It was in the guest room for a short time, but it never felt quite right. I still have a few turquoise items hidden away that I just can't seem to part with. I love seeing how other people incorporate it into their homes and maybe someday I can put my things to good use. :) I can't wait for tomorrow to show you my beautiful finds of the week- some of which are turquoise!

Ironwork

I've come to realize that getting the perfect feel to a room is all about layering textures. I love the added dimension that the scrolly ironwork gives. I decided to try it in my own living room and I LOVE IT! With my piano, the mantle, chairs, coffee table, and side table there was too much wood and it felt like something was missing, so I switched out the side table with an iron patio table. Instant fix! I couldn't believe the difference it made. I promise to show the progress on the living room soon! (Also coming soon- an announcement and a giveaway!)

I was short on time this week, but I did manage to find a few last minute treasures for the sale tomorrow. I was especially excited to find this antique dough bowl. It's such a cool shape and I think it would look great in the center of a coffee table filled with seashells or magazines or mini pumpkins for fall; the possibilities are endless!

Lots of gold finds today (surprise, surprise). I think gold may be taking over this house! Of course I still love the whites mixed with the gold, but you probably already knew that; or if you didn't, you will when you see my living room! It might be a while though because the prison seems to be taking their sweet time on my chairs. I guess that's the price you pay to get a good deal.

Book Bundles

I know I'm obsessed with Restoration Hardware lately, but I've had my eye on these antique book bundles for a little while. I just can't seem to justify $29 for a stack of old paper! So I made some myself the other day:

I took 5 old books that I had collected at garage or estate sales ($1 or $2 each),

ripped the covers off,

then tied them together with twine ($3 a roll).

A new addition to Derek's nightstand for under $8.

Hoarding

Those that know me well, know that I have OCD about keeping a clean and organized home. It's a blessing and a curse. If I let the house go to pot, I'd have lots of time for other things, but instead, most of my time is spent picking up, putting away, sorting through, and cleaning out. I have been this way my whole life. I'm usually okay parting with things because it rids me of unnecessary clutter. Since starting the home sweet sale, however, I've been finding it harder and harder to part with items because I've acquired such great things. Even though I don't need it, even though I don't have a place for it, I think "but maybe someday, somewhere, somehow I can use it!" I imagine that's how hoarding starts. Things just keep piling up until it's outta control. I'll show you what I mean:

This is the one room that I've given up on. It was just about empty after the last sale and now it looks like this already. Yikes! Lucky for you though, I'm not hanging onto all of this. The majority of it will be coming with me to the sale in a couple of weeks although I'm sure it won't be long until I fill it up again! I'll also be posting some furniture on the sale this afternoon so check it out!

The picnic table

I promised to show you my find of the century, and here it is! I went to an estate sale in Arcadia on Friday and I almost didn't notice this table; it was hidden under so much junk! The thing that caught my eye was the price tag hanging off the end- $25. I took a closer look to see that this massive table WAS for sale and nobody had snatched it up yet. It was meant for me!

This thing is over 10 feet long!

My favorite parts are the wheels and the color of the weathered wood. All it needs is a light sanding.

It is missing half a wheel, but it looks like it's just a couple of 2 x 4's glued together, cut in a circle, and a hole drilled through the middle. Sounds easy enough, right?

I see lots of backyard BBQ's in our future. :)

Friday Finds: Part II

I'm sure I've said before that some weeks my treasure hunting is a bust, but then I'll have a really great week that completely makes up for it. This morning I hit the jackpot. I went with 2 of my favorite sale buddies, Ann and Shirley, and started at 6 a.m. and got home about 11 a.m. Here's what I have to show for it:

I guess I was feeling a little industrial today and I picked up some things for Derek's office re-do.

One thing that isn't pictured is this AWESOME picnic table I picked up for practically nothing; definitely the steal of the day! It's gigantic, so we're taking the trailer and a few extra pairs of hands to pick it up tomorrow and then I'll show you. A lot of these finds and more will be at the sale- are you excited yet?

When Derek and I were in Scottsdale last weekend, I knew there was an estate sale I wanted to check out. So we got up early Saturday morning and drove to the address I had written down, but there was no house, just a storage unit building. It turns out a few of the people with storage units were selling their stuff and these are the things I snagged for a steal! I'll have more items posted on the sale later today, but I'm also saving up for the October 9th boutique. It's gonna be good!

10 years

Today marks 10 years of marriage for Derek and I. I can hardly believe it's been that long. We were going to celebrate in San Diego since that's where we went on our honeymoon, but in an attempt to save some money, we decided to stay here. Our friend, Kyle, was nice enough to let us use his house near Scottsdale for the weekend. But this isn't just any house, this is a house that Kyle built out of steel with his own two hands. He is unbelievably talented! See for yourself:

It was fun to be able to spend some time together, just the two of us. Derek's been busy with work and school so it was nice to be able to relax and enjoy the quiet. We caught up on some reading, made some delicious meals, played Table Topics, I learned (well, kind of) how to swing a golf club, and we even made time for treasure hunting (I'll show you my finds on Friday!).

I can't think of a better way to have celebrated.

I like the open floor plan in our home, but I feel like there's not a ton of wall space because of that. I've been wanting to make the most of this wall between the family room and kitchen. I've had it a few different ways, but haven't been really happy with any of them. I don't have before pictures, but just imagine this painting hanging on the wall. It has beautiful colors, and I've loved it, but it's huge and I thought I could make better use of the space.

My little Janie turned 4 on Sunday- where does the time go? She has grown up so fast. You can tell she's the baby in the family- she gets her way most of the time and she'll do whatever it takes to get it. She is always cracking us up with her faces and the things she says. Her hair is finally getting some length (hallelujah!) and she's excited for the day that I can put it in a braid or curl it. Today was her first day of preschool and she couldn't have been more excited. Every day for the last month she would ask "Am I 4 yet? Do I get to go to school yet?" and today I was able to say YES to both! I love you Janie girl!

The Living Room

I went on a rampage today. The kids got out of school early, so as soon as I picked them up we ran about 528 places to find some things for the living room. After way too many trips to multiple fabric stores, I finally narrowed it down. Since trying to do this room on a budget, I knew I would have to find ways to cut costs. I've had this swatch of fabric from Ballard Designs that I love and haven't been able to find the same color anywhere, but it would be a small fortune to spend the $30/yard that they were asking. So my first stop was to Home Depot for some canvas drop cloths. I've seen a few different bloggers reupholster with drop cloths and thought it the perfect solution- it's the exact color I want and I only spent $60 for all the fabric I'll need.

I'll be using it to cover these chairs:

Although mine have more curves, I'm hoping with a bit of nailhead trim they'll have a similar feeling to this chair:
And since I don't have a clue about reupholstering myself, my mom and are taking a little trip to the Florence prison next week. Supposedly it's the cheapest way to go and they do an excellent job. I'll let you know. :)

I made a stop at Mesa Sales to pick up a couple yards of this fabric for another chair that Candice so kindly let me use for the space as she doesn't have a spot for it in her house.

For the dining area, I want slipcovers like this for the parsons chairs, probably in white twill- durable and washable. I'm still searching for the best price on fabric.

A chandelier similar to this would be beautiful above those chairs, don't you think? I'll have to find a cheaper version than this one for $950.

After fabric, I headed to Cost Plus World Market for some curtains. I looked online where I thought Potterybarn had the best deal- white cotton voile tie-top panels for $25.99 each. I need 6, so I didn't think $155 was too bad. Then I did a search for other cotton voile curtains and Cost Plus popped up. A set of 2 for $24.99? Done.

Last, but not least, a quick stop at Hobby Lobby for a lavender branch to put in my glass bottle from Architectural Salvage. I think it'll look great on the new mantle. And so it begins.

Did any of you get the latest Restoration Hardware catalog? I've been drooling over most of the rooms, but especially the home office ideas. Derek says he likes his office the way it is, but he should know better- nothing around here stays the same for too long. :) I should probably hold off until the other make-overs are complete though. Today's finds are extra special. All of these lovely treasures are from the estate sale of Kristi Sherwood Crum, a wonderful friend and beautiful person, inside and out, who passed away the beginning of this year. It was bittersweet walking through the home- so many memories of her that made me miss her even more, but I'm glad I was able to bring home a few pieces that remind me of her. She loved white (even more than me) and pink, seashells, milk glass, and baskets, just to name a few.

I didn't realize until I got home that this basket still had a tag labeled in Kristi's handwriting. It put a smile on my face- her handwriting is my favorite!

And of course, when paying for my items, they wrapped my dishes in this vintage floral wrapping paper- I know Kristi wouldn't have had it any other way! :)

A New Piece and a Sale!

When we were at Architectural Salvage in San Diego, I fell in love with this mantle. I knew I probably couldn't talk Derek into it, and even if I did, we had no way of getting it home. So I walked away, thinking I'd never see it again, except in my dreams (and I did dream about it). Well, it just so happened that Derek had a business meeting in CA on Monday and look what showed up in the garage! Our 10 year wedding anniversary is coming up, so that's my gift and I couldn't love it more. I've decided it's going in the living room which means yet another room to re-arrange! (My other rooms are very close to completion so I'll show those soon).

Because of the amount of stuff I have to sell, instead of posting it all on the blog sale, I've decided to do a living room sale! It's still too hot outside, so I'm going to try having it indoors. More details and pictures to come next week, but mark your calendars for next Friday and Saturday- August 27 and 28, from 8 am to 1 pm!

Day 1

Surprisingly, the first day of school went quite well over here. The kids woke up on their own and got themselves dressed while I made breakfast and packed lunches. Teeth brushed, hair done, snapped a few pics, and Derek dropped them off on his way to work. He said Clay walked right in with no hesitation, and once Clara's teacher greeted her, she was just fine. No tears- hallelujah! They both have amazing teachers this year, so I'm not a bit worried. Just a few more weeks until Janie starts preschool- what will I do with all my free time?

Carlsbad

It's been hard to get back into the swing of things after such a fun, relaxing week in Carlsbad, CA. We relaxed on the beach just about every day, took the kids to Legoland, ate lots of yummy food (I gained 3 pounds), and shopped at antique stores, the Carlsbad outlets, and Architectural Salvage ( a must if you're in San Diego!). It was the perfect family vacation.

A Safe Return

It's so fun to have Carter home! He served an outstanding mission and I'm sure that even without the nametag, he'll continue to be a great missionary. He grew a few inches so he towers over the rest of us, even my dad!

His mission souvenir - About a year into his mission, he was trimming a member's tree and the branch he was standing on broke, and he fell about 18 feet and landed on his face. He broke his wrist and shattered his orbital bone. He's left with 2 pretty big scars and doesn't have full vision in his left eye, but he (and we) feels blessed because it could have been much worse. He was able to make a miraculous recovery and finish his mission and we are so proud of him.

Short on time again this week with family in town due to my brother coming home from serving his 2 year mission to Independence, Missouri. Lots going on this weekend! Candice and I squeezed in a trip to Goodwill Redesign in Scottsdale, and while a bit disappointed with that store, we did spot another Goodwill down the road where I found this set of bottles. I loved the shape and the fact that there was a set of 10; I just couldn't pass them up! I wasn't sure where I'd put them at first, but I was inspired by this picture from Velvet and Linen where she put some old electrical insulators on her window ledge.

So that's where mine went. Subtle, but beautiful.

Have I told you how much I love estate sales? Well, I do. A lot. I know I've said this before, but these really are my favorite finds yet. Total spent? A whopping $45! The chairs need recovering, but at $25 for the pair, I couldn't pass them up!

I also went to my first estate auction last weekend and it was so much fun! I got a few box lots full of frames, dishes, and other odds and ends, and this amazing cabinet for an unbelievable deal. I just listed it on Craigslist, so we'll see what happens. Once I finish sorting through everything, I'll have more great finds listed on home sweet sale (should be Monday). Happy weekend!

Flowers For Me

I'm not usually one to buy fresh flowers for myself, but especially during spring and summer it's hard to resist when there are so many beautiful blooms that are near impossible to grow in AZ. I met Candice at Trader Joe's yesterday for some groceries and she had some lavender in her cart. When asked why she was buying it, she replied "Because I like it and it smells good." Silly me. So I picked up a couple bunches for myself. On my way home, I stopped by Goodwill to see if they had any vases to put my lavender in. No vases, but I found this cute Ball jar for 99 cents.

I think it's the perfect combination.

It adds just a hint of color to the kitchen and of course it smells heavenly! Fresh flowers are definitely a good thing.

I love everything about the 4th of July- stars and stripes, red, white and blue everything, barbecues, fireworks, just to name a few. We stayed in town this year and my parents invited us to come celebrate with them at a D-backs game with a fireworks show after. Doesn't get much more American than that! (I won't mention that the Dodgers KILLED us: 14-1)

Have you ever had the strong impression to act on something, but you didn't do it and now it's something you'll regret for the rest of your life? Well, it happened to me yesterday. It's not some earth shattering incident, but I am left with an awful feeling and wish I could go back and do it over. I was out making my weekly thrift store rounds, one of which was Salvation Army. It happened to be their $1.00 clothing day, but I had my kids with me so I didn't stop to rummage through the racks. I did find a few silver dishes and then went to the line to check out. The man in front of me had his arms full of work type clothes- ties, dress shirts and pants, a belt, and a pair of shoes. I'm guessing there were 15 items because he pulled out a $15 voucher to use. The cashier started ringing him up and when he got to the pair of shoes he said "These have a red tag which means they're only 50% off. The original price is $30 so that would make them $15 and that's going to use up your voucher." The guy thought for a minute and then quietly said "I'll just take the shoes." My heart started to pound and I was feeling so bad for him. He bought the shoes and walked out the door, but one minute later he was back. He asked where the restroom was and the cashier told him he had to leave his backpack at the counter. I was checking out at this point and all of the clothes he couldn't purchase were still sitting on the counter next to me. A thought kept coming to my mind- I could tell the cashier that I wanted to pay for the man's other items (it probably would've been around $14 worth) and leave them there with his backpack and I'd be gone before he came back from the restroom. He'd never know it was me. Great plan! But did I do it? No. I chickened out. And I'm not saying we should go around buying things for random people, I just had an impression that I should in this instance and I didn't follow through with it. I felt sick while I was driving away and I wanted to turn around and go back, but I knew it was too late. I know with time I'll get over it, but I don't think I'll ever forget it. Am I being ridiculous?

A Day of Teeth

I took Clay bright and early this morning to the dentist for his baby root canal (yes, I'm a terrible mother and hardly ever help the kids brush- things are gonna change!).

My b-i-l Chris did a little drilling only to find out that the cavity went so far that the only option was to pull the tooth.

He was a trooper, and didn't even shed a tear! We headed back to my mom's to pick up the girls and Clara was waiting to show me this:

She let my mom pull her tooth that has been loose for months!

Tonight there'll be 2 kids getting visits from the tooth fairy!

I didn't have a whole lot of time this week as I'm trying to get my house back in order, but here are the few things I found. The frames are for the girls' room (probably with different pictures) and I just had to have the blue dish that matches with a white one I have. I love the shape and the gold detailing! I found all of these at Antiques on Main, which I believe is the same owner as Treasures from the Past Antiques, which closed recently. They have some great stuff- go see for yourself!
